Introduction

The quarantine was difficult for many people, and one Reddit user, Alphabunsquad, struggled with weight gain due to a lack of physical activity and poor food choices. However, after moving out, getting a new job, and changing his lifestyle, he began his journey to lose 30 pounds over the course of 10 months.

Intermittent Fasting and Diet

Alphabunsquad began practicing intermittent fasting and cut out breakfast and lunch from his schedule. He also avoided keeping much food in his apartment as it helped him avoid cravings. He consumed a variety of foods such as Mediterranean and Asian cuisine but still enjoyed pizza every now and then. He would eat one big meal after work, trying to keep a varied diet.

Workouts

Alphabunsquad began working outside most days, which kept him active. He biked about five miles to work, which also helped with physical activity. Instead of long-distance running, he focused on HIIT, which was not successful for him. However, he joined a rock climbing gym and did 30 minutes to an hour of rock climbing every day, every other day to achieve good results.

Muscle Memory

Alphabunsquad had previously lifted weights in the past, and even though he had not done much strength training for the last year and a half, he still had some muscle memory. When he lost the pandemic-induced weight, it helped him regain his muscular physique.
