Transforming from being an alcoholic and junk food eater to a health-conscious person requires a lot of discipline, determination, and perseverance. This is what Reddit user kicksjoysharkness experienced in his weight loss journey. In just 18 months, he has lost an impressive 45lbs by saying goodbye to alcohol and junk food and welcoming a new active lifestyle.

Kicksjoysharkness started his journey with running, beginning with only a 1-mile run that almost killed him. Over time, he built up to 5/6 mile runs four times a week, and he found the mental benefits of running astounding, especially for his sobriety.

About seven months ago, Kicksjoysharkness decided to work on his body by getting a gym membership and having a fitness friend write out a workout plan. He loves this plan because it consists of weight lifting, HIIT cardio, and good stretching. Kicksjoysharkness shares that he has never felt better since starting the program.

For his meals, Kicksjoysharkness eats granola with Greek yoghurt and a scoop of protein powder for lunch. For dinner, he has meat or fish with vegetables. He admits that he loves food and still gets takeaways and goes out to dinner with friends occasionally, but he makes sure to stick to consuming healthy food 90% of the time, and he emphasizes that healthy food can be delicious too.

Kicksjoysharkness's impressive transformation journey reminds us that being healthy is not impossible no matter where you start. All it takes is discipline, determination, and a willingness to make lifestyle changes that cater to your goals.
