The Journey from 197lbs to 155lbs in 1 year

The Reddit user, fordcousin, shared his personal weight loss journey on the site. He started working on his weight last January and managed to drop down from 197lbs to 155lbs within a year. He admits that it wasn't easy to start, but taking progress photos throughout the process aided him to appreciate the changes and stay determined in achieving his goal.

Discipline with Diet and Engaging Exercise

Maintaining a disciplined diet and engaging in frequent physical activity are the two primary keys that led to his successful weight loss journey. For a start, he was on a 2000-calorie diet daily and worked out four to five times weekly -- cardio and some lift weight lifting. He would run 1.5-2 miles, row 1-3k, and bike 2 miles, while rowing was a key exercise routine for him. He also did a lot of Kettlebell exercises and the stair climber.

Introducing HIIT to His Workout Routine

In his quest for further body transformation, he introduced High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to his daily workout routine. This time, he was less strict with his calories and switched to eating a lot of healthier options like chicken breast, eggs, nuts, beef jerky, and fruits.

Progress Photos and Scott Herman Fitness Channel

Taking progress photos was what kept the Reddit user motivated throughout the journey. He would advise anyone on the same path to do the same. He also suggests constantly researching subreddits for people around their height and their weight loss journeys for more useful tips.

Looking Forward to Muscle Building

At present, fordcousin has been focusing on put on more muscle during the rest of the summer. He looks forward to incorporating Scott Herman Fitness's lifting techniques into his routine.
