The Journey to Losing 86 lbs
Mymonkeyman gained weight after failing out of physics school and returning with a lot of pressure to succeed. Poor lifestyle choices such as smoking, bad dieting, and no exercise led to an unhealthy 230 lbs on a 5’8” frame. However, the decision to change was made.
Weight Loss Efforts with a Focus on Carbs
Mymonkeyman’s initial weight loss focus was on cutting carbs in order to mostly consume meals with just meat and vegetables. This approach led him to lose 25 lbs from 230 lbs in the first summer.
Creating a Daily Diet Plan and Routine
In the summer of 2013, Mymonkeyman created an effective daily diet plan that led him to shed 50 more lbs from 205 lbs to 155 lbs in six months. His daily routine included having 2 chicken breasts, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli for lunch, accompanied by granola, apples, and a banana for a snack. Mymonkeyman drank only water, and black coffee with sweetener, and still enjoyed beer or going out. Dinner was not included in his meal plan during the period of weight loss, however, as lunch was filling enough.
Feeling Liberated and Confident with Energy
Mymonkeyman is proud of his weight loss and speaks of it as feeling “liberated” and more confident in life. Having more energy to run and lift optimally is a benefit that he gained from his deliberate choices.
Conclusion and Tips
Mymonkeyman’s accomplishment of losing 86 lbs over two years demonstrates what conscious choices can achieve. A focus on cutting carbs, daily routine, and meal plans can work effectively, regardless of whether or not one finds joy in varying their meals. Although Mymonkeyman did skip dinner, he stayed disciplined while still having beer or going out. One should tailor a weight loss plan to their lifestyle, discipline, and any potential medical needs. Trying different things and being consistent can lead to a healthier, more energized self.
