Introduction

Reddit user GoochBurrito shared their summer cut journey on the platform. Despite getting the delta variant and taking a couple weeks off from training, GoochBurrito lost 15lbs in 3 months. Read on to find out how.

Fitness Journey

GoochBurrito had been lifting for 10 years on and off but gained some fat during quarantine. To lose weight, they started lifting in the evenings again and tried to do 30 minutes of low impact cardio a day, walking on a treadmill while watching Netflix.

Diet

GoochBurrito aimed for a 200-300 calorie deficit each day to achieve a 500 calorie deficit. They ate around 1800 calories a day, mostly protein. They cut out butter, oil, mayo/dressings, and dairy other than nonfat Greek yogurt. Additionally, they didn't eat until 1 pm each day to help them feel less hungry throughout the day.

Calorie Deficit

GoochBurrito mentioned that there are calorie calculators online people can use to calculate their daily calorie needs. GoochBurrito's calorie deficit of 500 calories daily is a bit steep, but 3500 calories equal around 1 pound. For people who are just starting, GoochBurrito recommends trying a 200-300 calorie deficit each day.

Conclusion

GoochBurrito's journey shows that a combination of low impact cardio, weight lifting, and a calorie deficit diet can lead to successful weight loss. However, it is essential to find what works best for one's body type and lifestyle. People can use GoochBurrito's experience as inspiration, but they should try things out themselves to find their weight loss formula.
