CICO Set a Foundation for Learning Food & Habits
The user's weight loss journey began with logging caloric intake through CICO (Calories in, Calories out) and eating regularly without setting targeted calorie goals. The process allowed the user to learn about their eating habits, and the nutritional content of various foods. They started eating an average of 1500 calories a day while adjusting calorie intake according to their hunger levels. The user tried several approaches to dieting, including fasting and low-carb, before developing an intuitive approach to calorie counting.
Fall Off the Wagon & Rebuilding Habits
After six months of disciplined CICO, the user lost 60lbs, but then they fell off the wagon due to personal and emotional reasons. They regained 30lbs within a few months but managed to lose those extra pounds again and lose 50lbs more by guessing the calories in food and weighing themselves weekly to adjust intake. They also incorporate exercise 5-6 days a week - swimming, weight-lifting and walking.
Gaining, Losing & Learning
It's okay to lose focus and fall off the wagon - the user regained some of their lost weight a couple of times. However, they adapted their diet as they learned how to listen to their body to know when they were hungry or full, which helped re-regulate their cravings.
Benefits of Learning About Food & Habits
The user has learned to not restrict any particular food group or feel hungry while changing their eating habits. Instead, they work at finding the right balance, and intuitive eating has become easier for them to accomplish. The user is more aware of the nutritional value of the meals they eat and apply this knowledge to make healthier meals.
Try Different Approaches to Weight Loss & Learn About Your Body
The user's weight loss journey involved trying out different dieting approaches and learning about the nutritional value of foods. They also took note of what worked for their unique body type to intuitively eat in a healthy range. It's always advisable to try out different approaches to weight loss, learn about your body, and develop healthy dietary habits rather than following fad diets that may be harmful.
