When it comes to losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and home workouts can do wonders. Reddit user Pastastrophy, a 37-year-old 5'7'' individual, has proven this true by losing 40lbs in just one year (from September 2020 to August 2021).

90% Proper Nutrition and 10% Daily Walks and Basic Home Workouts

Pastastrophy shared that their weight loss journey was due to 90% proper nutrition and 10% daily walks and basic home workouts. As they did not subscribe to a diet plan, they created their meal prep with things they liked to eat with a macro percentage of around 1700 to 1900 calories per day. Their normal daily food choices consist of a combination of oatmeal, eggs, avocado, bread, peanut butter, cream cheese, homemade seasonings and sauce, protein powder, almonds, cashews, salad greens, sugar-free fudge pops, and the occasional glass of wine. Pastastrophy prefers drinking lemon water, coffee, or tea than anything sugary.

No Specific Diet Plan Adopted

One thing to note is that while Pastastrophy was successful in losing weight, they did not follow any specific diet plan. They designed and curated their eating habits around the food they love. This way, they can adhere to the diet and sustain it in the long term.

Motivation is Key

In the Reddit thread, it was clear that Pastastrophy's transformation served as an inspiration to others. Everyone's fitness journey is unique; what worked for one person may not be as effective for others. However, one key takeaway is that motivation and a positive outlook are essential to make weight loss and an active lifestyle sustainable.

Try Things Out for Yourself

If you're looking to start on your fitness journey, don't be afraid to try things out for yourself. You don't necessarily need to adhere to a specific diet plan or indulge in a rigorous exercise routine. Small changes, such as swapping unhealthy snacks with healthier options, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or going for a daily walk, can add up in the long run. Remember, the sustainable weight loss journey is a marathon, not a sprint.
