Overview

A Redditor, CronoSpeaks, chronicles his weight loss journey, showing his before and after pictures and detailing his diet and workout routine. By successfully dropping from 200lbs to 147lbs in 11 months, he proves that determination and discipline can transform one's body with simple changes in lifestyle.

Diet

To lose weight, CronoSpeaks gave up soda, fast food, and candy, and focused on eating 2/3 portions of his usual intake. He switched to water and mostly ate oatmeal, a protein shake, a turkey sandwich, peanut butter sandwich, or an egg sandwich for lunch, together with peppers or fresh vegetables. For dinner, he ate whatever he could afford, often getting fresh meat from his university's food bank. He ate around six cans of tuna per week as well, until he stopped since he unfortunately succumbed to mercury poisoning.

Workout Routine

CronoSpeaks started by forcing himself to exercise 3 times a week on a treadmill, then he added free weights on a utility bench and tried to work on pull ups. Over time, his focus shifted to running (5+ miles a night) and doing full-body exercises like pull ups, pushups (wide, close, and triangle), and isometric exercises such as planking. He has two 25lb dumbbells, a weight belt and a pro form treadmill.

Progress and Changes In Lifestyle

CronoSpeaks felt heavy, sluggish, out of shape, and self-conscious with his shirt off, but after shedding off 53lbs, he gained more energy, stamina, and confidence. He now runs 5+ miles every night and can do about 160 pull ups/chin ups and 300 push ups, and he still enjoys doing planking. He aims to have a leaned/toned look, which he achieves by focusing on his upper body since his running exercises tone his lower body. His weight loss journey has been life-changing.

Takeaway

CronoSpeaks' journey shows the power of simple lifestyle changes in achieving weight loss, and his example represents that obtaining one's body goal is within reach for anyone who has the desire to succeed. A combination of dieting and cardio proved to have the most significant impact in his transformation. You don't need sophisticated equipment or several gym memberships. Discipline, determination, and consistency led to his success, and it can lead to yours too. So, go start that journey today.
