The Reddit user 'cristler18' shared their weight loss journey with the community, revealing that they had lost 20lbs in just 8 months. Their post, which received 668 upvotes, showed two pictures of themselves wearing the same pair of pants, but one picture was taken when they weighed 170lbs and another taken when they weighed 150lbs.

Weightlifting and CICO combination

Cristler18 attributed their weight loss to weightlifting and CICO. CICO stands for 'calories in, calories out', which means consuming fewer calories than your body burns in a day so that you're in a calorie deficit. Cristler18 revealed that they first researched their BMR (basal metabolic rate) to discover how many calories their body burns in a day, and then ate less than that amount.

Weightlifting exercises to get started

Alongside CICO, Cristler18 explained they also incorporated weightlifting into their routine, which helped them lose fat and build muscle. They shared that some of the weightlifting exercises that worked for them included squats, bench pressing, deadlifts, different bicep curls, bent over rows and overhead presses. Cristler18 advised starting with light weights and only doing what the user is comfortable with until they can work on their form and slowly increase the weight.

Celebrating the body

There were a few comments on the post that praised Cristler18 for showing their stretch marks in the pictures. One comment reads, 'Thanks for posting your stretch marks. You look beautiful'. Another comment says, 'I have lots in the same area and thought they would fade'. Cristler18 explained they had tried needling in the past to help fade them, but eventually gave it up because it was too time-consuming and expensive.

Cristler18's post received many supportive comments, congratulating them on their weight loss journey. One comment reads, 'That's incredible, you must be so proud of yourself!' Another comment says, 'You're doing great. Wow - looking really good keep it going!'. Cristler18's experience shows the power of weightlifting and CICO, but it is important to remember that everyone's bodies are different and what works for one person may not work for another. The most important thing is to stay consistent and listen to your body.
