Menuitem, a Reddit user, recently shared his success in weight loss with an accomplished milestone of completing a run. His post has received 10 upvotes and many replies from fellow Redditors. He used to weigh 240 pounds, and through a combination of running, keto diet, and Intermittent Fasting, he finally reached 150-

Picking Up Speed with Running

Menuitem shared that his completion and picking up speed was due largely to a combination of weight loss and training 100% on hills. He admits that he does not lift weights and did not go to the gym. However, he does see himself going to the gym soon to add some other types of workout.

Garmin Forerunner Makes A Difference

Menuitem mentioned that he hates not knowing how far he has run or what pace to maintain on his workout. As a solution to this, he bought a Garmin Forerunner 405, which helped track his workouts, the exact distance he ran, his speeds, heart rate, pace, and more. Due to this, he was able to compare his workouts and see where he had improved.

Importance of Data-Keeping

For Menuitem, being data-driven and having a program that gives him a set ‘pace’ and information to look at when physical changes are too slow to see, helped him in his weight loss journey. He believes that the data that comes with regularly tracking and comparison of workouts can greatly impact how people train.

What Other Options To Track Workouts Are There

Menuitem suggested a list of apps and gadgets that can be used instead of Garmin Forerunner. He does not see any reason not to use apps as they may be even better, especially if one listens to audio when running. A list of apps given includes Runkeeper and Polar heartrate monitor.
