Introduction

ShyGay, a Reddit user, started his journey to lose weight in hopes to get healthier and build some confidence. He shares the story of how he went on a diet and lost 50lbs in a year, but discovered the importance of doing it in a healthy and sustainable way.

The Journey

ShyGay started dieting six months before sharing his progress on Reddit. He admits that he went out of control and dropped too low that it concerned some of the people who left comments. After realizing the mistake, he started eating better and even incorporated strength training and running into his routine.

The Importance of Exercising

ShyGay’s experience highlighted the need for exercise to avoid losing muscle mass during weight loss. As pointed out by some of the comments, he lost muscle mass during his diet because he wasn’t exercising. Fortunately, as he posted on his thread, he picked up strength training and running to gain some of those muscles back.

The Importance of Mindful Eating

Another lesson ShyGay learned is to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way. He realized that dieting alone can be dangerous and that it’s important to eat mindfully, especially if one is undergoing a significant weight loss journey. By eating better, one can help the body achieve its ideal weight in a much safer way.

Conclusion

ShyGay’s journey towards a better lifestyle is a tale of perseverance and hard work. By sharing his experience, he reminds us of the importance of taking things slow, being patient, and listening to our bodies. If you’re on a weight loss journey, it’s essential to remember that dieting alone is not enough - exercise and mindful eating are necessary for long-term success.
