He stepped into the new decade carrying a weight of 392lbs and decided to take back control over his life. Chopperdod's father's demise instilled the realization in him that nothing is permanent and that his unhealthy lifestyle could result in his life being cut short. In January 2009, he suffered a leg injury that left him bedridden and with a lot of spare time. He channeled this time to watching documentaries and inspirational videos, and this changes marked the beginning of his journey to an active lifestyle. This was naturally the best tribute he could pay to his father – a man who had spent his entire life working his way around his heart condition. To ensure that he did not face any additional health problems, Chopperdod consulted a physician and started taking baby steps towards his massive journey.
Hiking turned out to be a form of therapy for Chopperdod, and he would experience one epiphany after another during his hikes. The joys of walking on a hiking trail are indescribable; they help unclutter our minds and allow us to focus on what truly matters. They also make us understand our relationship with nature better. Hiking is a fitness program that not only helps one shed weight easily, but it also fosters mindfulness and appreciation for nature. Chopperdod's challenge was to continually push himself beyond his limits to achieve his target. He began with covering 2-3 miles daily and gradually worked his way up to a 15-mile hik in 11 months.
