Introduction

Losing weight can be a challenging process. It takes a lot of effort, effort that is commonly not seen. Weight loss trends can be deceiving and leave potential individuals feeling discouraged. Many hope to lose weight without putting in the work. Today, we will look at a successful weight loss story posted on Reddit by a 21-year-old.

The Journey

Weightlossomg posted on Reddit that she lost 12 pounds in three months. What was the key? Counting calories right and running regularly. She had previously been running for 3 years, but did not start seeing results until counting calories more accurately. What were the mistakes from the past? Eating ~1600-1700 calories daily and thinking she could outrun that. She did not log everything and that included a 'handful of goldfish crackers or a lick of peanut butter'.

Takeaways

It is important for a successful journey to not only workout but also be mindful of caloric intake. By estimating food consumption, not every calorie is accounted. She never felt 'fatigued or dizzy' on her 1200 calories a day split, with the diet rich in protein (as a vegetarian, mostly eggs, tofu and beans) and loose attention to macros.

Plateau?

Fuzzypurple9, hoping to gain some insight asked weightlossomg if she had any advice to break out of a plateau between 122-125.5 for almost a month. Weightlossomg suggested not eating back exercise calories for a larger deficit, using an app to log weigh-ins every day, and incorporating Happy Scale to help forget about plateaus. Continuing on, FitBit and FitLegit were mentioned as sources to enhance predictive stats, measure body fat, and recomposition the body.

Conclusion

Weightlossomg had support throughout her journey with comments, upvotes, and helpful tips. Losing weight can be challenging but with support and hard work, it is achievable. There is no end-all-be-all route to weight loss success, but by taking these tips as advice or trying out new ideas, eventually, everyone will find what works best for them.
