From Couch Potato to Health Buff
For years, Reddit user 'DoingitFortheMusic' thought nothing of eating junk food, lacked the motivation to exercise, and remained complacent with his shape. But in 6 months, he turned his life around: he lost 42 lbs and looked ripped in his 'after' pictures.
The Keys to Success
To achieve his goal, he did a complete 180-degree turn in his lifestyle. He began by exercising for five days a week: running about three miles during weekdays and four to five miles on Saturdays. On Mondays he worked his biceps/triceps, on Tuesdays his chest/shoulders, while leg days were on Thursdays, and back days on Fridays. His Wednesdays were rest days, while Sundays were also for resting his muscles.
Muscle Specifics
For his ab workout, which he did every day, he did 150 crunches, 60 leg lifts, and 60 hyperextensions. This regimen evolved into a more comprehensive one as he became more intense with a lot more exercises. Through his workout routine, he did around five to six workouts per muscle group during this six-month transformation.
Healthy Diet Plan
He also drastically modified his diet. He increased his protein intake and consumed lots of protein-rich foods such as chicken, fish, turkey sandwiches with cheese, oats, salad, Greek yogurt, carrots, celery, and bananas, to name a few. However, he kept his daily caloric intake below 2000, tracking his progress on Myfitnesspal.
Encouragement to Get Fit
Shedding weight calls for discipline, hard work, and persistence, but as 'DoingitForTheMusic' has shown us, it is possible. Be inspired and take his journey as an example. People should start by committing to a healthier and active lifestyle: incorporating daily exercise and a healthy diet into their routine. Whether you are looking to shed a significant amount of weight, tone your existing body, or just maintain your current shape, take your health seriously and start today.
