Non-Scale Victory

What is a Non-Scale Victory?

A Non-Scale Victory (NSV) is a term used to describe any achievement during a fitness journey that is not related to weight loss. It is a way to celebrate progress and milestones that are unrelated to the number on the scale. NSVs can be physical, emotional, or mental achievements, and can come in many forms.

Examples of Non-Scale Victories

  • Fitting into a smaller clothing size
  • Completing a workout without feeling out of breath or fatigued
  • Feeling more energized and less moody throughout the day
  • Being able to lift heavier weights or complete more reps
  • Improved sleep or digestion

Synonyms for Non-Scale Victory

NSV is the most commonly used term, but it can also be referred to as Non-Scale Success, Milestones or Achievements, Fitness Wins, or Progress Celebrations

Related Terms and Confusion

Non-Scale Victories are often used alongside body positivity, self-love, and intuitive eating. It is important to differentiate that an NSV is about cultivating a positive body image and relationship with oneself, but it is not a way to ignore or dismiss weight loss goals. NSVs are simply an additional tool to measure success and celebrate progress.
