What is Deload?

Deload is a term commonly used in the fitness world to describe a planned period of reduced intensity or volume during a training program. Essentially, a deload is a week or more of lower intensity or volume to allow the body time to recover and repair from intense training.

Why is Deload Important?

Deloading is important for several reasons. First, it allows your body to recover and repair from the stress of intense training. Second, it helps to prevent injuries by giving your joints, tendons, and ligaments time to rest and recover. Finally, deloading can help to break through plateaus in your training by allowing you to recover fully and come back stronger.

When Should You Deload?

There are a few different strategies for when to deload. Some people prefer to deload every fourth week, regardless of how they feel or how much progress they've made. Others prefer to wait until they feel beat up or are starting to plateau before deloading. Ultimately, the decision to deload should be based on how you feel, how much progress you're making, and how much stress your body is under.
