Shifting from Cardio to Weights

Becoming fit can come in different shapes, and for Brody Mitchell, that involved transitioning from cardio to weights. After years of relying solely on cardio, Brody decided to switch to weight training to see what would happen.

The Results of the Journey

On his Reddit post, Brody shared his progress of gaining 15 pounds of weight and significant improvement in muscle mass after two years of weightlifting. By incorporating heavy, compound lifts into his routine, the visible transformation was apparent and apparent. His hard work paid off and the results are very satisfying.

Tips on Routines

When asked about his routine, Brody mentioned trying out different routines, but found the ones that centered heavily on compound lifts to be most useful. He recommended stronglifts as a routine with a huge following, but he prefers PHUL. Choosing lifts that work multiple muscle groups is key.

Tips on Diet

Brody admits that his diet was all over the place when he started, starting as a devout vegetarian but lacking the requisite protein. But, he found the best results when he cut back on processed foods and focused on getting sufficient protein from whole food sources. In particular, he consumed lots of chicken and vegetables. His best advice, though, was to ensure calorie intake is lesser for weight loss and more for weight gain, with nutrient-dense foods comprising the majority of all calorie intake.
