Taking Control of Their Life

One Reddit user, Eeebee_, decided that January 2014 was the time they would take control of their life. Because of this decision, and 1.5 years of hard work, Eeebee_ lost 65 pounds and expanded their fitness abilities.

Building Muscle through Weight Training

Eeebee_ started weight training by watching videos on form and the fundamentals of the movements. They found it to be surprisingly easy to get into, and after starting with typical Pinterest workouts with dumbbells and resistance bands, they began heavy-lifting in January. Eeebee_'s favorite form of exercise is weight training, it's fun and doesn't have to be intimidating.

Overcoming Fears of the Weight Room

Although some may find the idea and environment of weightlifting intimidating, Eeebee_ has yet to have one negative experience with lifting or the weight room in general. Eeebee_ acknowledges there is a lack of information available on properly using gym equipment, but feels gym employees are knowledgeable enough to answer questions if necessary. They also mention that people generally mind their own business and the only person laughing when mistakes are made is usually the person who made the mistake.

The Journey Continues

Eeebee_ continued their weight loss journey with the help of a weight training class and their boyfriend, who has been lifting for years. In the end, they lost 65 pounds and increased their fitness level immensely. Although progress in the weight room has slowed for the time being, Eeebee_ is still working on perfecting their form and expanding their flexibility.

Encouraging Tryouts for Everyone

Eeebee_'s journey shows us the importance of taking control of one's life and starting small. Weight training, when approached with a willingness to learn, doesn't have to be scary or intimidating at all. Eeebee_ invites anyone interested in following a healthier lifestyle to start with simple workout plans, such as the ones found on Pinterest, with minimal weights and resistance bands.
