M/20/6' 172lbs -> 156lbs. I've lost 16 lbs but can't see a difference at ALL in my stomach and sides (which is where I really wanted to lose it). Keep up the same routine or change what I'm doing?

Can't See the Difference in Stomach Despite Losing Weight

One Reddit user named Changed_for_good, who is male, 20, and 6 feet tall, lost 16 lbs and currently weighs 156 lbs. However, Changed_for_good is confused because they can't see any difference in their stomach and sides, which is where they really wanted to lose weight.

Asking Others for Help and Being Honest About Your Appearance

One user, seannymurrs, suggested asking someone else if they notice a difference since Changed_for_good may be the last one to notice their own weight loss. Although his girlfriend noticed, he thought she may be biased. It's important to seek out honest feedback from trusted friends or family members.

Lift Weights for Muscle Growth

Another user, LifeStartsNow, asked Changed_for_good if he has done any other exercise besides running. He suggested lifting weights to build muscle and get closer to where he wants to be. Although Changed_for_good hasn't lifted before, he subscribed to /r/fitness for tips and plans to look into the basics of weight lifting.

Gender and Genetics Can Affect Fat Storage Locations

A third user commented on how fat storage locations can be based on gender and genetics. They suggested posting a photo to get a better idea. They also pointed out that weight training can be very helpful for both fat loss and strength gain. They recommended looking into intermittent fasting and a cyclic keto diet to do away with as much fat as possible while keeping as much muscle as possible.

Control Your Portions and Try Different Diets

Changed_for_good is in college and can't control what food he eats since he lives with 50 other guys. Therefore, sticking to specific diets may not be possible. However, user [deleted] pointed out that intermittent fasting may still be possible since it's based on controlling portions and alternating between periods of fasting and high caloric intake. He shared a resource for learning more.
