Introduction

Meet Redplaid, a 24-year-old woman who lost 42lbs from 237lbs to 195lbs in 1.5 years through a combination of running, lifting, and counting macros and calories.

The Journey Begins

The first 30lbs lost came from 6 months of daily running until Redplaid experienced knee problems. Cutting carbs also helped, but she hit a plateau in June 2013 and started having low blood sugar issues after adding more carbs back. That lasted for five months.

Finding The Right Combination

In December 2013, Redplaid started combining cardio and lifting, which helped her drop to 199lbs by March 2014 until another plateau hit, and she hurt her knee while running. She then only lifted for a few months, gaining weight and muscle back to 204lbs while losing inches.

Counting Macros and Calories

At the beginning of August 2014, Redplaid started counting macros and calories, which allowed her to drop the weight she gained, but it turned out to be mostly muscle. She continued lifting, even lifting heavy, with the hope of progressing in her squats and deadlifts.

Conclusion

Redplaid's dedication to sticking with her fitness program over 1.5 years, facing setbacks such as injuries and plateaus, was the key to her weight loss success. Her experience is proof that combining different exercises and finding the right diet can do wonders for one's journey to losing weight and becoming healthier.
