Realization of his weight problem

Jakerat started his journey to weight loss in September 2013, when he weighed 265 pounds. He had always been active in sports during his high school and college years, but after getting an office job with little physical activity, he began to gain weight. His lunch of fast food, which contained around 1700 calories, only added to the problem. It wasn't until he saw his latest photo that he realized he had a problem.

The beginning of his weight loss journey

From September 2013 to January 2014, Jakerat started "eating Paleo," avoiding starchy processed carbs and consuming mainly meat and vegetables. He wasn't counting calories, so he didn't notice any significant changes. However, in March 2014, he took weight loss seriously and started using the MyFitnessPal app to help him count calories. He set his goal at losing one pound per week, and he estimated a range of 1300-1500 calories daily.

Incorporating exercise into his routine

Jakerat joined a gym to build muscles in March and started working out four times a week, alternating upper/lower body and cardio sessions. He found that his favorite cardio was the elliptical trainer, and by the end of his workout session, he was doing 35 minutes of elliptical before and after weightlifting. Jakerat also stopped focusing on cardio and started building his muscles. He remained consistent in his workouts, dedicating around two hours per gym session.

Achieving his ideal weight and plans for the future

After a few weeks of vacation in August, Jakerat got back into the fitness routine and reached his goal weight in September 2014. He is currently planning on gaining more muscles, but he wants to do it slowly and cautiously. He envisions himself settling at around 205/215 pounds with low-fat content. Jakerat's observations about losing weight are to keep consistent, buy a food scale, and remember that losing weight results in more energy.

Jakerat's conclusion

Jakerat provides a TLDR on his weight loss journey: Eat less, exercise more, and remember all about calories in versus calories out. He wants people to remember to use math and buy a food scale. He also notes that hard chairs are genuinely hard and losing weight will make you colder. Jakerat's honest account of losing weight shows that with determination and a consistent plan, anyone can achieve their ideal weight.
