A Journey of Slow and Steady Progress

Reddit user Deeppurpletrumpet shared her weight loss journey, which took place over the course of 13 months. During the first 12 months, Deeppurpletrumpet focused on making small changes in her habits. This included trying to eat more fruits and vegetables and increasing the amount of walking she did each day. While these changes improved her overall health, they did not lead to significant weight loss.

Getting Serious About Weight Loss

It wasn't until the last month that Deeppurpletrumpet really got serious about losing weight. She began keeping track of her calories using the MyFitnessPal app and started running. These changes, combined with her previous healthy habits, led to a weight loss of 20 lbs. While Deeppurpletrumpet still has more weight to lose, she is proud of the progress she has made so far.

Challenges of a Meal Plan

Deeppurpletrumpet's weight loss journey was not without its challenges. As a university student on a meal plan, she had access to a buffet of foods, which made it easy to overeat or make unhealthy choices. However, she made a conscious effort to choose healthier options whenever possible. She also struggled with the fear of gaining weight, commonly known as the 'freshman 15.'

Encouragement for Others

Deeppurpletrumpet's story is an inspiring one for anyone on a weight loss journey. She demonstrates that small changes in habits can add up over time and that perseverance is key. While the process was slow, the end result was worth it. For anyone struggling, Deeppurpletrumpet offers the advice to start making small changes and to not give up. Even if progress is slow, any effort put in is an improvement.

Conclusion

The journey toward a healthier lifestyle can be a slow one, but it is achievable with patience and determination. Deeppurpletrumpet's experience is a reminder that weight loss is not a quick fix, but a long-term commitment to a healthier way of living. Anyone struggling with weight loss should take comfort in the fact that small changes can make a big impact, and that progress is still progress, no matter how slow.
