Introduction

A Reddit user, u/mahayana, has achieved a remarkable weight loss transformation after a year of consistent effort. She lost 52 pounds, dropping from 155 pounds to 102.5 pounds while also maintaining the weight loss.

Diet

Mahayana used the LoseIt! app to track her daily calorie intake, and consumed approximately 1,100 calories per day. She didn't eliminate any food groups from her diet, preferring to eat eggs, bacon, oatmeal, chicken, fish, fruits and veggies, rice, quinoa, and occasional baked goods from the bakery where she worked. She believed in eating everything in moderation as long as it fit into her daily calorie goal. Over time she found that she didn't crave unhealthy foods as much.

Exercise Routine

Mahayana started with walking, light aerobic exercises using Tiffany Rothe videos on YouTube before moving on to high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training. She now lifts heavy weights three times a week, does yoga 1-2 times a week and rarely does cardio due to her personal preferences.

Maintenance

Maintaining a healthy body weight requires the continuation of the positive changes made during the weight loss journey. Mahayana maintains her weight loss by eating a healthy, balanced diet of approximately 1,500-1,600 calories on her rest days, and between 1,800-1,900 calories on days when she exercises. She has learned over time to listen to her body and stop when it signals fullness.

Conclusion

Mahayana's transformation is an example of consistent effort, patience and moderate diet changes being necessary for achieving long-term success. She has proved that an individual doesn't need to try fad diets or exercise regimens to achieve a healthy body. It's crucial to listen to one's body and make lifestyle changes that are sustainable in the long run.
