Introduction

Tiatalksalot - a then-23-year-old woman from America - decided that she wanted to lose weight in the summer of 2013. Her starting weight was 250lbs, and she wanted to reach 170lbs. By the end of the summer, she had lost 30lbs, and she decided to continue her journey. She shared her progress on Reddit, and the post received an incredible 423 upvotes.

Calorie Tracking and Exercise

To lose weight, Tiatalksalot counted calories using MyFitnessPal and exercised. She completed the Couch to 5K programme and worked out three to four times a week at a gym. Her persistence paid off, and she lost a total of 55lbs that year.

Motivation and Challenges

Tiatalksalot found motivation for her weight-loss journey the hard way - by experiencing back pain, realising that her clothes did not fit, and feeling uncomfortable in her own skin. She kept herself motivated by tracking her progress and looking at before-and-after photos of herself. The hardest part was maintaining her motivation when she could not see changes in her body.

Future Goals

Now, Tiatalksalot is at 210lbs and has 40lbs left to reach her goal weight. She may adjust her goals after she reaches her target. She recognises that the hardest part of her journey is still ahead - maintaining her weight-loss progress. However, she is determined to change her lifestyle for good and sees her transformation as a lifelong process.

Takeaways

Tiatalksalot's weight-loss journey was not easy, but she persisted and achieved incredible results. She encourages others to track their calories and exercise regularly - changes she considers sustainable for life. For inspiration and motivation, she recommends looking at before-and-after photos and reminding oneself that the end goal is worth the struggle.
