F/19/5’7” [110lbs > 116lbs = 4lbs] (1 month) today marks a month since I first started to recover from my eating disorder. Not a huge change physically but mentally I feel like a new person. It’s not been easy and I’ve had periods of relapse but I keep telling myself it’ll be worth it.

Introduction

At some point in life, we might have had to deal with body shaming, societal expectations, or just poor self-image. The more severe effects might manifest in eating disorders, weight loss or gain problems, among others.

The Story as Told on Reddit

Reddit user, visceralkilos, shared a personal weight journey that is as much about mental recovery as it is about physical improvement. It has been only a month, and yet the post shows lots of commendations and a positive outlook to a path of recovery that is most certainly not an easy one.

Relevance to Mental and Physical Health Improvement Programs

Like visceralkilos, anyone can make a commitment to improving their body and mental state; sometimes, these two dimensions overlap. It's essential to get the right support, medical, psychological or social, and a sense of community that understands and can offer trusted solutions.

Supporting Facts and Figures

Per the National Eating Disorders Association, eating disorders affect an estimated 20 million women and 10 million men. This statistic is a pointer to the need for awareness campaigns and the establishment of sustainable programs that combine social support and medical intervention.

Conclusion

Visceralkilos has shown that it's possible to take one day at a time and gradually make positive changes. Aspiring individuals can draw inspiration from the Reddit user's story to take small but sure steps toward mental and physical health improvements. As always, we advise individuals to seek professional help, step out of their comfort zones and believe in the possibility of a healthier self.
