Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on our physical health, and one Reddit user, b1b33, experienced the debilitating effects firsthand. After enduring a severe case that required hospitalization and oxygen, the user lost mobility and gained weight. However, after mustering the courage to start a weight loss journey, b1b33 has made significant progress in less than three months, losing 50lbs through low carb diet and exercise.

Starting point: hospitalization and mobility loss

B1b33's starting weight was 386lbs, but the motivation to lose weight only came after battling COVID-19. The user shared that the disease caused mobility issues that prevented normal movement. The brutal experience not only affected physical health but also mental well-being. The change began with small steps, which involved adjusting the diet and incorporating simple exercises- at least two to three times each week.

Low carb and exercise- the winning formula

B1b33 stated that low carb helped to put the user's body into ketosis, where it burned stored fat for energy instead of carbs. In addition, the user managed to stay within the daily calorie limits (about 1200-1400 calories) and limited snacking. The combination of low carb and exercise worked hand-in-hand to burn more calories faster. The user participated in indoor workouts, such as step aerobics, and took up walks outside, increasing the distance gradually.

Keeping track and motivation

B1b33 struggled to see a physical difference in the mirror, but noticed a significant change in fitness levels. Keeping track of the activities, b1b33 noted the improvements in exercise performance and could compare it to previous results. Posting updates and progress tracking through the Reddit platform helped to stay motivated, especially when receiving positive comments or words of encouragement. The user encourages others to use any support system available, such as social media or friends.

Conclusion

B1b33's weight loss journey, especially following the recovery from COVID-19, is a great inspiration to those struggling with weight or health issues. Proving that small steps lead to significant progress, the user urges anyone wanting to lose weight to take things one step at a time, set achievable goals, and find a support system or an online community. Before engaging in any diet or exercise program, please consult a health care professional.
