Introduction
Maintaining a healthy weight can be challenging for some people, but this man's perseverance and strong determination to change took him from being 402 pounds in February 2021 to 189 pounds by April 2022.
Start of the Journey
The weight loss journey began with a wake-up call on realizing he had broken into the 400s. To make a considerable lifestyle change, he decided to go for weight-loss surgery. From the first visit with a nutritionist, he began tracking his calorie intake on MyFitnessPal, limiting his daily calorie intake to 2200 max. He managed to bring it down to about 1200-1500 calories daily, cut all soda and fast food from his diet.
Weight-Loss Surgery
He chose gastric bypass surgery for weight loss, and by the time he was on the two-week liquid diet before the surgery, he had already lost 15 pounds. The surgery, after which he weighed in at 264 pounds, helped him achieve a weight loss of up to 50 pounds in the first two months.
Lifestyle Changes
Apart from the surgery, he purchased an under-desk treadmill that he started using daily, did away with fast food and soda in his diet. Giving up fast food and soda and tracking calories was among the biggest changes that helped him achieve a considerable weight loss.
The Result
As of April 2022, he weighed 189 pounds, less than half of his starting weight. He has realized that he has lost some muscle mass in the process and aims to build and tone his muscles as well. His goal is to stay under 200 pounds, and he is currently focusing on lifting weights while also counting calories, with the mindset that small daily steps will eventually lead him to success.
