Journey Towards Mastering Thyself

Read about the inspiring journey of Reddit user notsogalpal, who lost 30 lbs, gained 11 lbs, and built strength over 26 months. She shares that gaining weight was scary, but eventually it helped her keep progressing towards her goals.

A State of Recomposition

Despite gaining weight, notsogalpal couldn't tell where it went. The truth is, she was actually in a state of recomposition - losing fat and gaining muscle. Fat takes up more space than muscle, so muscle is denser and weighs more. She noticed that her clothes still fit the same even when she was gaining weight.

Setting New Goals and Nailing Them

As notsogalpal achieved her goals, she kept setting new ones to continue her fitness journey. She started lifting weights 9 months before posting and really hit her routine in January of the posting year. With the help of her doctor, who advised her to increase her calorie intake by 200-300 a day, she saw consistent strength results. Now she has new goals like being able to do a single pull-up and squat her weight.

Tips on Managing Goals and Nutrition

One Reddit user recommended focusing on silly fitness goals to stay excited about working out. Another shared that it takes +3500 calories to gain a pound of muscle and -3500 calories to lose a pound of fat. Increasing calorie intake by 200-300 a day can lead to gaining a pound of muscle within two weeks. Adequate levels of protein and nutrition are also important.

Encouragement and Celebration

Throughout the Reddit thread, notsogalpal received plenty of positive feedback for her stunning progress. Many of the comments complimented her hard work and the results it had on her body. The kind words and encouragement helped her reflect on her journey and continue to progress in her fitness journey.
