Introduction

With the help of Noom, u/buntforbritain has lost 72lbs over the course of 14 months. While the rate of weight loss has slowed down, changes have continued as they made lifestyle changes.

Overcoming all-or-nothing thinking

One of the biggest changes u/buntforbritain attributes to their success is the ability to overcome all-or-nothing thinking around dieting. They no longer stress about eating something sweet or indulging during holidays. They recognize that even though the scale may go up temporarily, the choices they make in their everyday lifestyle will bring it back down.

Dietary habits

To lose weight, u/buntforbritain started by eating low-calorific density foods as the main part of their food choices. This boiled down to eating foods with water in them, such as grapes, olives, beans, pasta, and potatoes. Starting out at around 1900 calories a day, they reduced their calorie intake as they lost weight. They found this manageable and never felt hungry. Currently, their caloric intake is around 1500 calories a day.

Incorporating cardio workouts

Cardio is an important part of u/buntforbritain's weight loss journey. They started with walking 5km at least 4 times a week and slowly added running to their routine. They also enjoy listening to podcasts as they walk or run, making it a pleasant experience. They are just two months away from their first half marathon and have recently started lifting weights.

Conclusion

u/buntforbritain's weight loss journey shows that small changes can make a significant difference in one's overall health. Incorporating low-calorific density foods as the main part of one's diet and starting with cardio, such as walking, can make weight loss manageable and enjoyable. Overcoming all-or-nothing thinking can also help one stick to their lifestyle changes. Remember, everyone's journey is unique. However, it's never too late to make changes and try new things out for oneself.
