The Truth About Losing Weight

Losing weight is a beautiful yet intricate journey. There are no easy fixes, no magic potions, and no quick solutions to your weight problems. Ultimately, losing weight requires discipline, mindful eating, and consistent physical activity.

How One Reddit User Lost 120lbs in 11 Months

One Reddit user, amicingtotravel, shared her weight loss journey, which started with exploring new hobbies and outdoor activities. At her heaviest, she weighed 240lbs. Wanting to shed the extra pounds, she did a lot of hiking, exploring, mountaineering, walking, running, taking the stairs whenever she could, and even joined a gym for the 10th month.

The Role of Mindful Eating

For diet-wise, the Reddit user ate everything that she wanted. It wasn't healthy but made her new lifestyle so much more doable. At first, she tried to do OMAD (one meal a day) just to stay on track but never said no to food or drinks. She listened to her body, stopped when she was full, and got busy with her hobbies right after. This gave her a sense of fulfillment outside of eating while still enjoying every bite of her food.

Exploring New Hobbies

What helped the Reddit user the most was finding hobbies that made her happy but had nothing to do with eating. She was always looking for new languages to learn, meeting new people, traveling, painting, cooking, dancing, partying, and reading. This led to her awareness of hitting her fitness goals naturally; eventually, she stopped binge eating because she was too happy being happy. She still eats when she feels like it and immediately stops when she's full, goes back to doing things that make her feel alive after.

Try Things Out for Yourself

Losing weight may be a challenging journey, but it doesn't need to be complicated. A mix of physical activity, exploring new hobbies, and being mindful of your body's signals goes a long way. It's a journey of self-improvement and being kind to yourself. Always listen to your body, and don't hesitate to try out things for yourself. Everyone's journey is different, but everyone has the potential to achieve their weight goals.
