Chronic Illness and Weight Loss

Losing weight when dealing with chronic illness is a challenge, but not impossible. Reddit user mis_chanandler_bong shared their two-year journey of losing 42 pounds despite having Late-Stage Lyme disease, CFS/ME, and Fibromyalgia. Their story is an inspiration to others who are also dealing with chronic illnesses, proving that small lifestyle changes can make a big difference.

One Change At A Time

Mis_chanandler_bong started with small changes, making just one change a week until it became a habit. They kept a line-a-day journal, and set achievable goals with a Fitbit, such as increasing their step count by 100 every week. They also added in simple exercises, like doing 5 squats between episodes of Friends. These little changes helped to increase their step count and get them started on their fitness journey.

Finding the Perfect Workout

With POTs making jumping difficult, mis_chanandler_bong found that yoga was the perfect exercise for their body. They also added in stationary biking and gradually increased their workout routine as they started to feel better. They were able to start making their own meals as well by preparing a staple dish, like tomato sofrito, at the beginning of the week, which allowed them to cut down on meal prep time.

Sticking to Healthy Habits

Making small changes in their diet and exercise routine has allowed mis_chanandler_bong to stick to these healthy habits over two years. They note the importance of having pictures to look back on when progress feels slow, as it helps you see the true impact of your lifestyle changes. By making small changes every week and sticking to them, anyone can make progress towards their fitness goals, regardless of chronic illness or other challenges.

Final Thoughts

Mis_chanandler_bong's weight loss journey shows us that even when dealing with chronic illness, small changes can make a big difference. From setting achievable goals to finding the perfect workout regimen, they are an inspiration to anyone looking to make healthy lifestyle changes. While each person's journey will be their own, this story shows that it is entirely possible to make progress and reach your fitness goals through small changes, one step at a time.
