Overcoming the Greatest Enemy - Oneself

Mediocremelissa’s journey from being 300lbs to losing an incredible 117lbs over 12 months is an inspiring story of perseverance and determination. She admits that the biggest obstacle she had to face was herself. Her post on Reddit went viral, receiving over 933 upvotes and several comments, with users requesting tips and suggestions on how they could achieve similar results.

The Journey of 215 lbs

Mediocremelissa’s weight loss journey started when she hit 401lbs, and thus began the rollercoaster of weight gain and loss due to mood stabilizers. The little changes, such as cutting out soda and sugar entirely, paid off for MediocreMelissa. She paid to consult with a nutritionist to learn about healthy eating and created a plan to have three small, well-balanced meals and one high protein snack every day for three years.

The Healthier Way of Indulging

Mediocremelissa never deprived herself of indulging in unhealthy food, rather learned how to consume them in appropriate amounts. For instance, she ate only 30g of bacon daily, instead of gorging on a plateful. She ate from smaller plates, which made her portions looked more significant and satisfied her behavioral habits. The nutritionist told her that weight loss is 80% of what goes into the mouth and 20% of physical activity. Small and consistent steps led her to significant progress.

The Workout Routine

The first year, mediocremelissa was too big and in too much pain to work out or exercise. Following a healthy diet for the first 75lbs initial weight loss, mediocremelissa gained the confidence to hit the gym, starting initially on the treadmill, and slowly turning towards weight training, which helps burn body fat. She was glad to have created personal goals for herself, while the trying transformed into pushing body limits further. Weight loss is not just about working out but about finding the perfect inflection point for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Trying is the first Step

Mediocremelissa's journey is a testament to the fact that change is possible, and anything is achievable through little changes and consistent efforts. This post serves as a reminder to all those who feel like giving up, giving themselves a chance to try, and remember that every small effort counts. Weight loss is challenging, and at times it feels like there's not a way. But about consistently trying every single day, for little progress that helps towards big goals. Stay dedicated and work towards your desired changes.
