Slow Progress
Although BigMilkCows has been hitting the gym hard for around 3 months now, he still feels like he should be gaining weight or growing faster. However, he has managed to lose 7lbs since May 1st, which is certainly progress.
Counting Calories
BigMilkCows revealed his daily calorie intake of around 2400-2600 calories, but he was unsure if this was a good number for his weight and height. He understood that he needed to fuel his body with the right amount of calories, but needed help in determining how much he should be consuming in order to see the changes he was hoping to achieve.
Nutrition Matters
BigMilkCows received advice from other Reddit users, who suggested that he may need to consume more calories in order to prevent his body from going into a calorie/protein deficit. They also advised him to stay on top of his nutrition, making sure to consume the proper macronutrients in order to keep his body in shape.
Suppressant Meds
BigMilkCows revealed that he was taking medication which suppressed his appetite, which was possibly affecting his weight loss goals. Eating too many calories in the evening after not eating enough throughout the day can cause unexpected weight loss, so it is possible that this medication is contributing to his struggles.
Takeaway
BigMilkCows' journey reminds us that even though progress can seem slow, it is still progress nevertheless. Additionally, he highlights the importance of staying on top of your nutrition and making sure that your daily calorie intake is not hindering your weight loss/muscle gain goals. If you are experiencing a lack of progress, it is always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or certified personal trainer to get more guidance personalized to your body and goals.
