Introduction

Weight loss journeys can be challenging, and it is always inspiring to read success stories. We came across a Reddit post of a man who successfully lost 51 pounds in eight months, and we thought we would share his journey.

The Journey

The Reddit user, HowsYourCHIN1, shared that his weight loss journey was a mix of calorie counting, intermittent fasting (IF), cardio, and lifting. He practiced 18:6 IF, which is eating within a six-hour window and fasting for 18 hours. Eventually, he transitioned to 20:4/OMAD, which means eating one meal a day. He consumed between 1500-1800 calories, allowing himself some flexibility by including the foods he enjoyed eating, but within reason.

The Exercise Routine

HowsYourCHIN1 also exercised by being very active. He played basketball, ran, and lifted weights. He rotated major muscle groups throughout the week, including chest, legs, back, and core. He made sure to factor in activities that could get his heart rate up. Additionally, he highlighted jump rope as a highly underrated exercise that provided a full-body workout and didn't require much time.

Results

Through the 8-month period, HowsYourCHIN1 burned around 3500-4500 calories a day (Total Daily Energy Expenditure + exercise), resulting in a 51-pound weight loss- going from 256lbs to 205lbs. He also occasionally fasted for 3-5 days, which he mentioned not to embark on without professional guidance. He admitted that his method was possibly extreme and not for everyone. He had to sacrifice a lot of time and social life by spending most of his time focused on either his work, class or at the gym.

Conclusion

HowsYourCHIN1's weight loss journey may not be for everyone, but it is essential to note that combining healthy eating habits and regular exercise can lead to different results for different people. His story can inspire us to try out different methods of weight loss and find what works best for our individual lifestyle. Ultimately, it's a matter of finding a balance that fits your unique situation, gradually transforming your lifestyle, and staying consistent.
