M/26/5'10 [246 lbs > 187 lbs = 59 lbs] (35 months) Started with fad diets. Lost weight and would gain it right back after I saw results. Couldn't stay consistent. I focused less on results and more on consistency. Slowly worked my way up to a solid meal plan and 5-6 days a week lifting.

Background

The Reddit user, blakelair, started with fad diets and saw mixed results. The weight loss would be followed by weight gain again in a vicious cycle of losing weight and gaining it back. This discouraged them to stay consistent with their plan.

Focus on Consistency

The user decided that their focus should be on consistency rather than their short-term results. They then started slow and steady in terms of exercise, working their way up to a solid workout and meal plan. They followed a six-day routine with a Bro Split Routine with a friend, starting at 5 am.

Meal Plan

Their meal plan would start in the morning with egg and bacon burritos and coffee. Two protein shakes, usually at 10 or 11 o'clock, followed by two tuna salad kits for lunch. Dinner was air-fried chicken breast or two thighs with two vegetables, green beans or broccoli, and 150g of rice. Yogurt or a kiwi were optional for an evening snack.

Self-Care

The user also ensured to get enough sleep by going to bed at 9 pm after a long day at work, lifting, and cardio exercises. Taking creatine supplements, fish oil, magnesium, zinc, calcium, 'vitamin d' and CoQ10 helped them stay on track and boost the energy needed for consistency. Finally, they also drank upwards of 1.5 gallons of water a day.

Conclusion

This Reddit user's journey towards losing weight and maintaining it is a success story that offers insights into the importance of focusing on consistency, starting with small steps, following a healthy meal plan, and taking care of oneself. Overall, their success and dedication are motivational and encouraging for anyone who wants to make long-term positive changes to their diet, exercise, and lifestyle.
