Prelude to 75 Hard

After his wife gave birth to their first child, lazyhaze22 joined her in a programme called 75 Hard to better themselves. They began the programme in July after attending two weddings. Prior to joining, he had a lifestyle of intermittent fitness and unhealthy eating habits. He had to decide on a CICO diet to create a calorie deficit, cut out junk food and soda, and drop booze completely. The first two weeks were tough on him since his body was not used to two workouts a day and a calorie deficit.

Regimen for 75 Hard

The programme requirements included the following: two workouts daily with no rest days, water intake of one gallon per day, read 10 pages of non-fiction self-help books daily. The outdoor daily walk with his wife and son is the well-loved workout of the day requirement that also functions as a bonding activity. On weekends, he would go to the gym for cardio workouts while doing one body part a day for lifting days during weekdays. Photographs were also taken daily to track progress.

Benefits for lazyhaze22

Although he acquired food poisoning on day 65, lazyhaze22 finished the remainder of his wife’s 75 Hard. He did not take a rest day to compensate for lost time. However, he resumed his lifting on day 71 after recovering. Lazyhaze22 said his attempt at 75 Hard had been a net positive for him aside from his fitness journey. He gained muscle and lost fat. More importantly, the programme gave him a full-body reset, improved mood, mindfulness, and anger management. He emphasized taking measurements, and he plans to keep up with his son as he grows.

The Lesson Learned

The most significant takeaway from his journey to a healthier self is no rest day is going to be an issue. It is his thirties, and he does not recover as he used to do. He encourages those who want to attempt the 75 Hard programme to take things slowly and remember that patience is key. Lazyhaze22 commented that he attempted the programme to reset himself and get back in the gym he loves, so the journey is more important than the results.

Conclusion

Lazyhaze22’s story reveals that participating in the 75 Hard programme had a positive impact on his fitness journey. The programme’s structure and requirements helped him achieve his goals. However, what he emphasized more is the other benefits he acquired, like being more mindful of how his mood affects others around him. Aspiring to live healthily is a long-term process; that's why patience and consistency matter. If you take away anything from this story, let it be the writer's reminder to ‘just along for the journey,’ so go ahead and take that first step towards a better, healthier you.
