Introduction

One Reddit user, iamroto, is a perfect example of how hard work and consistency lead to results. Despite starting at a mere 133lbs, he managed to train himself to 186lbs in just 3 years and 4 months with his current best lifts of: Squat: 380lbs, Deadlift: 515lbs, and Bench: 275lbs. However, what's interesting to note is that his journey was not just about lifting weights as he also learned how to maintain healthy eating habits.

The Starting Point

When Iamroto started his journey, his diet was not healthy, consisting of ramen noodles, pizza, and lots of beer. He decided to change to a healthier diet consisting of lots of protein and fresh vegetables, that helped him fuel his body for intense workout sessions.

Consistency is Key

The most important factor in his journey was consistency. Whether he was going through exam periods or dealing with tough times, his motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle never waned. He understands that workout routines certainly contribute, but consistency does matter the most.

Workout Routines

Starting with Starting Strength, he switched to Wendler 5/3/1 in his second year of training. In his 2.5 years of lifting, he switched to a BB Split, which is a unique combination of Back and Bis, Chest and Tris, Shoulders and (tris or bis), legs. One other interesting thing he mentioned was his higher rep ranges for squats (6-12) compared to accessory movements (8-12 minimum) to work on his physique's aesthetic aspect.

Conclusion

Iamroto's journey is proof that with determination, patience and consistency, you can achieve a healthy and muscular physique no matter where you are starting from. But to achieve this, you should maintain a healthy diet, consistency in your workout routine, and ensure you push yourself enough without going too far. Remember that everyone is built differently, and make changes in your routine as necessary until you find what works for you!
