Introduction

Maintaining weight can be difficult for anyone, even more so for people with physical ailments like scoliosis or hernia. But a Reddit user has demonstrated through his journey how it can be done.

Early challenges

The Reddit user in question was diagnosed with scoliosis at a young age, which manifested into severe hip and shoulder pain later in life. A hernia surgery further derailed his fitness goals. However, he persevered, trying multiple workout routines and diets to find what best suited him.

Discovering a PPL Program

After adopting and experimenting with a couple of workout routines, the Reddit user discovered a PPL (Push, Pull, Legs) program. It allowed him to focus on different muscle groups on different days of the week, offer easier customization, and prevented overtaxing any particular muscle, including his previously injured hips and shoulders.

Diet

The Reddit user didn't make any drastic changes to his diet, sticking to the same plan for over three years. However, after a dermatologist warned him of his skin condition worsening, he cut out whey and dairy and substituted them with plant proteins and almond milk.

Takeaways

Different workouts and routines work for different people, and people with medical conditions need to be extra cautious. The Reddit user kept trying until he found what worked for him despite physical setbacks. It wasn't always easy, but it was worth it. His journey shows that mistakes should be treated as opportunities to learn and to not give up on one's goals.
