From 394 lbs to 213 lbs: A journey towards self-love

Reddit user, primemrip96, chronicles his weight loss journey over the course of two and half years. With a core value of consistency and finding what works for him, he managed to go from 394 lbs to 213 lbs. While working in the fast-food industry, he states that the key was being in a calorie deficit.

Fitness regime and training protocol

Primemrip96 shared that his training protocol wasn't anything special. He liked running, achieved his 5 km in just 22:36 minutes, and also performed deadlifts of 170 kg, squats of 145 kg, and a bench of 100 kg. After following the 5x5 from /r/ketogains, he shifted to a push/pull/legs split and trained 4-6 times a week while occasionally sneaking in a few sets of curls when feeling it. He noted that consistency in going to the gym and hard work was the key to his success.

Motivation through self-love and desire

Primemrip96 put a heavy emphasis on the concept of self-love and finding the motivation to continue on his weight loss journey. Despite not having the best diet or training regime, he found inspiration and motivation by seeing the progress and great work of others. He even finds the time to help others and answer their queries, all while emphasizing the value of self-care, motivation, and consistency on his journey.

Dealing with excess skin

When questioned about his excess skin, Primemrip96 shares that he didn't opt for any surgery to remove it. He mentions having loose skin on his stomach and legs with stretch marks on different body parts. Regular gym sessions and building muscle helped him keep his excess skin in check. Customizing his training program and finding time to focus on dieting has shown a great impact in maintaining his loose skin and other issues associated with weight loss.

Starting your journey

If you are feeling inspired by Primemrip96's journey and want to commence your own weight loss journey, remember the key is to find what works best for your body and stick with it. Aim for a calorie deficit diet, regular exercise sessions, and finding time for self-care whenever possible. While the perceived goal is weight loss, remember it isn't the only measure of success. Take inspiration and see your progress in comparison to your old self.
