Running routine helped shed 44lbs

One woman on Reddit shared her weight loss journey in a post, where she detailed how running helped her lose 44 pounds in six months. She stated that running had changed her life forever, explaining that she feels healthier with more energy since starting the program. While she hasn't yet hit her ideal weight goal, the significant transformation in her health and fitness has been tremendous.

Importance of following a routine

The woman recommends following a routine when starting a fitness program. She followed a book called 'The Women's Runner's Guide,' which helped her gradually progress her running. The book has a six-week schedule in which she did nothing more than that prescribed in the routine. By the sixth week, she was injury-free and built up stamina to run for 30 minutes straight.

Preventing overuse injuries

To avoid overuse injuries, the woman advises starting with a walking routine, which then progresses to alternating between walking and running. In the initial weeks, she only ran for a few minutes, slowly increasing to four-minute to six-minute runs. By the end of the six weeks, she could run for 20 minutes continuously without any injuries.

Sticking to a routine is key

The woman admits that the initial stages of starting a routine are grueling, and their temptation to push hard is high. However, sticking to the routine and preventing injuries is crucial in the long run. She says, "it doesn't take much change, just a little bit daily."

Transforming into a healthier person

Through her journey, the woman learned to listen to her body and take the necessary rest. She also found that running helped her become a healthier person, both mentally and physically. Today, besides running, the woman also weight-lifts for 20 minutes every day, followed by a 30-minute run. Her story shows that it's never too late to make changes, and with a bit of determination, anyone can transform into a healthier person.
