Starting Point: 113lbs
When I first decided to make a change to my lifestyle, I was 31 years old, 5'3" and weighed 113lbs. At first glance, it may seem like I was already at a healthy weight. However, I was not happy with my body and knew that I needed to make changes in order to feel better about myself.
The Struggle with Dieting
I began my journey by focusing on my diet. At first, it was going well and I was losing weight. However, I soon found that restrictive diets were not sustainable for me. I would end up bingeing and gaining back all the weight I had lost. It was a cycle that was hard to break. Eventually, I realized I needed to find a healthy and sustainable way of eating that would work for me long-term.
Incorporating Exercise
To complement my new approach to food, I started incorporating exercise into my routine. I started by doing simple workouts at home, then transitioned to jogging a few times a week. I also enrolled in a fitness class, which helped me stay motivated and accountable. Exercise helped me become stronger and more confident in my body.
The Importance of Balance
As my journey progressed, I learned the importance of balance in my life. I found that when I was too strict with my eating or exercising too much, I would become miserable and burn out. I realized that it was okay to indulge in treats or skip a workout every once in a while. Finding a balance that worked for me was crucial in making this lifestyle change sustainable.
The Journey Continues
Now, several years later, I continue to work towards my health and fitness goals. Although my weight has fluctuated, I feel healthier and more confident in my body than ever before. My journey towards a healthier lifestyle has been a process - there have been setbacks and challenges along the way, but I try to focus on the progress I have made. I encourage anyone who is struggling with their weight or health to try different approaches and find what works for them. It's never too late to make a change!
