Introduction

Weightlifting and powerlifting have been gaining popularity, especially among teenagers, for their ability to help in building muscle mass, increasing strength, and losing fat. This Reddit user's journey is no exception.

The Journey

Charspaz, a 17-year-old, had a body weight of 145lbs, and after a consistent 9-month powerlifting program, was able to gain 19lbs, bringing his current weight to 164lbs. He was particularly proud of his achievements in squats, deadlifts, and bench press, where his maximum lifts were 375lbs, 405lbs, and 210 paused repetition x1 respectively.

The Program

Charspaz followed the Starting Strength program for the first 6 months and then switched to the Madcow program for the remaining 3 months. He was able to gradually increase his lifts by constantly increasing the weight and maintaining proper form.

The Diet

Charspaz's diet played a crucial role in his weight gain journey. During the bulk phase, he was consuming anywhere between 3500-4500 calories per day. He was on a GOMAD (Gallon of Milk a Day) diet, along with three meals rich in carbs, proteins, and healthy fats. During the cutting phase, his calorie intake dropped to 1800-2200 calories per day, and he practiced intermittent fasting, consuming his meals between 3 pm and 11 pm. His diet primarily consisted of whey protein, boiled eggs, lean meats, and vegetables. He refrained from any cheat days and engaged in swimming on weekdays.

Conclusion

Charspaz's weight gain journey reflects the importance of following a consistent powerlifting program and a proper diet. It shows that with dedication and hard work, teenagers can also achieve their desired fitness goals. We encourage our readers to try different programs and diets and find which works best for their body type and goals.
