Introduction

In August of 2012, a 20-year-old, male Reddit user, jacobtcornell, began a journey towards gaining 20-25 pounds of muscle. His initial weight was 149 pounds with a goal of achieving his dream body in three months.

Seeking Advice from Reddit

Jacobtcornell quickly turned to online forums, such as /r/bodyweightfitness and /r/C25K, for guidance. He received suggestions on dietary habits, such as the EEIS (Eat Everything In Sight) diet, while sourcing high-protein foods, such as chicken breasts.

Barbell Training and Interval Training

Reddit users often emphasized the importance of barbell training and compound exercises, such as squats, and programs like Starting Strength by Rippletoe. Jacobtcornell was also advised to consider interval training such as the Couch to 5K Running plan to balance his strength and endurance training.

The Importance of Dumbbells

Another pain point that was addressed during Jacobtcornell's weight gain journey was incorporating dumbbell exercises. He was encouraged to learn at-home workouts and incorporate sets of push-ups, pull-ups, and squats.

Take Inspiration and Make it Your Own

While Jacobtcornell continued to experience pain throughout his journey, he was reminded to push past that barrier and trust the process. This journey for a 20-year-old may be different from someone else's but the approach of seeking advice and support from online platforms proved helpful for his journey. Take inspiration from others' success stories, but make your journey your own.
