Introduction

In January 2012, a 26-year-old female Reddit user, Jewelybell, shared her weight loss and fitness journey in the Body Transformation Fitness Challenge community post. She started at 163 pounds and aimed to lose weight via intermittent fasting and a workout plan.

Intermittent Fasting

Jewelybell shared the science behind intermittent fasting, which involves eating every three to four hours for feeding and periods of fasting. She skipped breakfast and worked out at lunch, ate her majority of calories in the afternoon/evening to indulge her love of eating at night, and had a late afternoon snack and dinner. Late evening hunger pangs were quelled with tea.

Workout Plan

Jewelybell shared her workout plan, which was to try Starting Strength on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and High-Intensity Interval Training/Cardio on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hiking with her boyfriend on the weekends was also part of her plan.

Community Support

Supportive comments from the Body Transformation Fitness Challenge community and a reminder to post four photos and document a transformation completion required by the workout challenge played an essential role in Jewelybell's weight loss journey. Many Reddit users dealt with the same struggles, and many reached out to build a helpful, supportive network.

Conclusion

Jewelybell's progress was not tracked beyond March 28, but her story serves as an inspiring account for anyone looking to lose weight or change their lifestyle. Her methods may not suit everyone, as everyone's body is different, but trying different things and discovering what works best for you may ultimately lead to a successful transformation.
