A Goal Begins to Take Shape

Reddit user Vanity1nsanity began her weight loss journey in March 2015, after her best friend asked her to be her matron of honor at a Cancun wedding. She quickly realized that the thought of walking around in a swimsuit in front of people she knew gave her anxiety. This made her realize the need to lose weight. She started her journey by doing the Advocare 24-day challenge.

The Importance of Avoiding Certain Foods

After concluding the challenge, Vanity1nsanity realized that cutting out wheat and sugar from 90% of her meals was the key that would help her the most. Not only did this help stabilize her blood sugar and reduce her hunger levels, but it also gave her more energy for exercising, cleared up her skin, and improved her mental focus. Those with strong sugar cravings should abstain from wheat and sugar for at least a week, as doing so would make the cravings disappear, and thus make it easier to refrain from eating wheat on a daily basis. In her opinion, avoiding these foods was the biggest factor contributing to her success.

Regular Exercise is Key to Success

In June 2015, Vanity1nsanity began working out with a personal trainer twice per week. She also incorporated running and cardio classes and did some mild weight lifting. Her exercise regime consisted of running three miles about three days a week and attending two fitness group classes. By losing weight and getting in shape, she was able to hit her year-end goal: getting into the normal BMI.

Setting Weekly Goals and Tracking Progress

Vanity1nsanity knew that setting weekly goals and tracking progress was key to achieving success in her weight loss journey. She weighed herself every Friday and wrote down weekly goals on her calendar to help her stay on target. This helped her achieve her year-end goal of getting into the normal BMI range.

The Final Result

Over the course of twelve months, Vanity1nsanity lost 50 pounds, going from 211 to 160 pounds. She posted pictures of her weight loss progress on Reddit, generating nearly 1900 upvotes and numerous comments from others congratulating her on her success. She attributed her success to cutting out sugar and wheat from 90% of her meals and regular exercise. Vanity1nsanity's progress serves as an inspiration to others looking to lose weight and achieve their fitness goals.
