What is Anabolism?

Anabolism is a metabolic process in which molecules are created or synthesized to form new tissue in the body. It is an important biological process that helps in the growth and repair of tissues, muscles, and bones. Anabolism is also responsible for the synthesis of complex molecules like proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids from simpler ones like amino acids, glucose, and fatty acids.

Examples of Anabolism

Anabolic processes occur throughout the body, for example:

  • When muscle tissue is synthesized to repair muscle damage from exercise.
  • When bone tissue is synthesized to make bones stronger and denser due to physical activity.
  • When new cells are created, such as during the healing of a wound.
