Discipline and One Craving at a Time

VisAnimus started with one craving at a time. First, soda, then white bread, then sweets, etc. For him, going two weeks without each item and he no longer craved it. As the diet got more strict, he started to do short jogs and low weight-high rep exercises. VisAnimus thinks the diet is far more important than the exercise. Once he got his diet right, the weight began to fall off compared to when he was exercising and still eating badly.

No Soda and No Sweets Diet

VisAnimus disliked sodas and sweets for the first 50 pounds, sticking strictly to non-processed foods. He purchased a George Foreman and made several ready meals for the week. Tuna, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, greens, and fruits were his staples for a long while. He then added cheat meals once a week, and it went well after adding those in.

Strength Gaining Routine for Weight Loss?

VisAnimus followed a pretty standard strength gaining routine throughout his weight loss journey. He did not feel that he worked out as should have, but he followed bodybuilding's "Shortcut to Size Phase 1 Week 1 Day 1". This routine is far from what one should do for weight loss, but it is what he started with. For better weight loss results, more cardio helps.

Dealing with Manboobs and Stretch Marks

The man boobs were not much of an issue for VisAnimus. He consistently did pushups and dumbbell flyes, and he would make sure to keep up with the pushups, if nothing else. The stretch marks were still present, despite getting under 200lbs, but they have grown much lighter and started to heal up.

Conclusion

VisAnimus' weight journey teaches us that discipline and one craving at a time can lead to remarkable transformations. The no soda and no sweets diet helped him lose 50 pounds. Strengthening exercises in combination with cardio offers better results than pure strength gaining for weight loss. What worked for VisAnimus may not work for others, but trying out a combination of diet modification and exercise should encourage everyone to achieve their weight goals.
