Introduction

Maybepenis, a 26-year-old Reddit user, shared her 71-pound weight loss journey on the platform. Despite struggling with eating disorders, Maybepenis lost the first 30lbs of weight in under two months, but worked hard to ensure she was healthy enough to lose the rest of the weight over several years. She avoided looking at old photos, but recently accepted that the change was real.

ED Struggles and Support Help

Maybepenis confessed she still battled eating disorders but hired a therapist and had an amazing support system that kept her going on this bumpy ride. She was grateful for the perspective she got from looking at her old photos, which made her feel a new sense of acceptance.

Weight Loss Advice

Maybepenis suggested that education was key to making progress in weight loss. She learned about everything she ate, read food labels, and cooked at home more often. She drank more water, watched her caloric intake, and occasionally did keto to lose weight. Maybepenis also suggested being patient and not giving in to eating disorders even if results were not immediate.

Impact of Disordered Eating

Maybepenis shared that the attention she received after losing weight was uncomfortable, particularly because she wasn't confident in her new looks. She sometimes felt paranoid that people were lying to her because they felt bad about how she looked. Maybepenis still struggled with eating disorders and was aware of them, so she did not want to rely on attention to validate her efforts.

Closing Thoughts

Maybepenis was not interested in romantic attention when she started losing weight. It was accidental, and she realized she needed to keep losing, but in a healthy way. Even though losing weight was never her goal initially, she loved the bonus attention as it helped her self-esteem. She hoped her story could inspire others to take up their own weight loss journeys, despite the setbacks and trials along the way.
