Introduction

Discipline and consistent effort can lead to a transformed body, as exemplified by reddit user pumpkinmuffinz's weight loss journey.

The Before and After

Pumpkinmuffinz's July 2013 and March 2014 photos illustrate a visible change from 140 lbs to 133 lbs. Her photos also show how weightlifting contributed to her hourglass shape.

Discipline in Diet and Exercise

The key to her transformation is discipline. Pumpkinmuffinz maintained a regular gym schedule and stuck to a healthy diet, while still allowing herself occasional treats like ice cream, cookies, and pizza. Complementing these efforts, her results came in over several months.

Routine Changes

Pumpkinmuffinz initially adopted the newb gain-focused program SL5x5 but favored a different approach where minimal weights were used to focus on more aesthetic gains.  Her routine consisted of an Upper Lower Split with 20 minutes of cardio warm-up. She dedicated Monday and Thursday to an upper body focus and Tuesday and Friday to legs. She actively sought recovery and added light cardio on Wednesdays and weekends. She also occasionally incorporated a full body session into weekend workouts to mix up the fitness routine.

Takeaway

Pumpkinmuffinz's story demonstrates that discipline and a workout routine that suits your goals can lead to sustainable and satisfying results. You don't have to cut out your favorite treats, but you should have the discipline to stick to a healthy lifestyle most of the time.
