A male reddit user, Im-doinit, shares his weight loss journey from 288 to 239 pounds in a post. He started with a crash dieting and borderline starving himself, but realized that it was not the best approach for his long-term health. He then shifted to a low carb high protein diet, which he has maintained for about 3.5 months now. To complement his diet, he is doing Strong Lifts 5x5 three times a week, and running in his rv park on his off days.

Im-doinit has five small meals a day and drinks at least a gallon of water. His meals consist mainly of chicken and turkey, broccoli and carrots or raw spinach and kale, baby Portobello mushrooms, Greek yogurt with berries, egg whites and turkey bacon, and naked brand protein zone chocolate shakes. He drinks Isopure whey protein when he neglects his cooking. On lift days, around 10 AM, Im-doinit makes sandwich out of one of his poultry breasts.

Recovery was tough when he first started running/lifting 5-6 times a week, but it's much better now. Im-doinit is happy with the results and after having lost weight he finds it feels good not having that neck sweat or the constant want to tilt his head back all the time.

A comment from another user, capebretoner, reveals that their stats similar, except for age. Capebretoner shares that they have started 5x5 again and are planning to start running soon. They asked if it was hard for Im-doinit's body to recover when running/lifting 5-6 days a week. Im-doinit replied that it was tough at first, but it got better with time.

The journey of Im-doinit is a valuable lesson to anyone who is struggling with losing weight. Crash diets and extreme measures are not the way to go in the long term, and there are healthy and sustainable ways to achieve weight loss.
